Abstract

The fragility of Sonoma County’s biodiversity and the importance of protecting it are sometimes overlooked by the people who live here. While we enjoy our rural environment
and open spaces, we take the wildlife and plant populations they support, and their value to us, for granted. Human activities are rapidly altering the environment and placing Sonoma’s unique biodiversity at risk. We have an opportunity, a stewardship responsibility,
to conserve and enhance local native habitats to ensure that the biological diversity of Sonoma County is protected and continues to sustain the health and quality of life of future generations.
